MSTFA/Talent

Hard problems, honestly stated.

MSTFA is a small engineering organization working on microvolt-scale signal acquisition, medical-device regulation, and clinical data infrastructure. The work is difficult, specific, and consequential.

How We Work

Small team. Full ownership. Evidence over opinion.

Engineers at MSTFA own complete subsystems — a sensing front end, a classification pipeline, a FHIR service — not tickets. Decisions are argued from literature, measurement, and datasheets.

We are early-stage and honest about it: equity-weighted compensation, direct access to every technical decision, and the kind of responsibility larger organizations cannot offer early-career engineers.

Where We Need People

Open directions.

ENG

Embedded firmware

ESP32-S3, ADS1299 SPI drivers, real-time biosignal acquisition, BLE. C/C++ with disciplined power budgets. Device portfolio.

ENG

Signal processing & ML

DSP chains, feature engineering on physiological time series, gradient-boosted and sequence models, on-device inference. All programs.

ENG

Backend & infrastructure

TypeScript, PostgreSQL, FHIR R4, real-time streaming, audit-grade data handling. Plexus.

RES

Research collaboration

Graduate students and faculty in biomedical engineering, neuroscience, respiratory physiology, or speech-language pathology interested in instrument validation.

INT

Internships

Project-scoped internships for students in engineering and the sciences — real subsystem ownership, Houston or remote.
